Transforming the quote-to-invoice process to improve revenue recognition and realisation
A focused 10-week engagement that redesigned Murgitroyd’s most critical commercial process — capturing £800K to £1.6M in additional annual revenue from day one.
Following a series of acquisitions, Murgitroyd faced challenges with financial discipline, outdated systems and a lack of standardised processes. The quote-to-invoice process was identified as the priority area for transformation to unlock better revenue recognition and realisation. Palladium led a focused 10-week project to audit, redesign and implement quick-win solutions for this critical business process.
THE CHALLENGE
Murgitroyd’s acquisitive growth had left its commercial processes fragmented and inconsistent. The quote-to-invoice journey lacked standardisation across the firm, templates varied by team and region, and the business had no clear view of where revenue was being lost. Without process mining capability or standardised data, identifying and quantifying the opportunities required significant diagnostic work.
OUR APPROACH
Palladium aligned with key stakeholders to define success measures and KPIs, then developed detailed as-is and future-state process maps covering every step, screen, template and call to action in the quote-to-invoice journey. Process mining techniques were used to identify improvement opportunities, and 38 new technology and automation solutions were developed. Two solutions were implemented during the project itself, transforming job charging and enabling the immediate capture of additional revenue. A web-based quoting-guidance tool was created to deliver consistent recommendations and lay the foundation for deeper financial analysis.
